McInerney Scores 1,00th Career Point As Bulldogs Roll Over Rangers To Improve To 5-0

Big Rapids, Mich. - A fifth consecutive victory has the Ferris State University women's basketball team out to a 5-0 start to the 2017-18 season as the Bulldogs downed the Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers 88-69 at Wink Arena on Wednesday (Nov. 22) evening.

In the contest, senior forward Rachel McInerney crossed a milestone with her 1,000th career point in the Bulldog Crimson and Gold and went for a double-double on 10 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore forward Lilly George also added a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds for Ferris State.

Ferris State outscored the Rangers in each of the opening three quarters and cruised to the finish with a 22-point edge headed into the fourth quarter.

The Bulldogs dominated the Rangers in the paint, outscoring them 48-22 and outrebounding them 49-37 for the evening.

Defensively stout, Ferris State forced 28 turnovers and scored 27 points off of them to Wisconsin-Parkside's six points off of turnovers.

A total of 13 Bulldogs scored three or more points, with three in double-digits including junior guard Alexis Bush, who scored 11 points in the contest as Ferris State's second-leading scorer.

The Rangers were led by Ali Bettencourt's 25 points and six rebounds in the game.

Ferris State totaled 17 steals in the game with both Leah Humes and Brayene Benner posting three each. FSU also had 20 assists, including a game-high four helpers from freshman Kelsey Wyman. 

Overall, FSU shot 44% for the game and hit four-of-16 (25%) three's to go with 16-of-27 (59.3%) free throws. The Bulldogs limited Wisconsin-Parkside to 36.8% shooting and the Rangers managed to make six-of-19 (21.6%) three's in addition to 21-of-26 (80.8%) free throws.

The now 5-0 Bulldogs will next take on the visiting Lewis Flyers on Sunday (Nov. 26) at 3 p.m. (ET) inside Wink Arena in Big Rapids.
