Ferris State Senior Duo Garners All-GLIAC Women's Basketball Recognition

Big Rapids, Mich. - Two senior standout members of the Ferris State University women's basketball squad have earned All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) accolades for the 2017-18 campaign as the GLIAC unveiled its postseason award recipients in conjunction with the league's postseason banquet on Friday night in Ashland, Ohio.

Senior center Rachel McInerney (Saginaw/Nouvel) was chosen to the All-GLIAC First Team squad for the second consecutive year in voting by the league's member head coaches while senior guard Leah Humes (Bay City/Central) garnered All-GLIAC Second Team accolades.

In addition, both McInerney and Humes were both also tabbed to the GLIAC All-Defensive Team.

A three-time All-GLIAC honoree, McInerney led the GLIAC in rebounding this season at nearly 10 boards per contest and also ranked among the conference's top five scorers at 17 points per game during regular-season action. The three-time GLIAC All-Academic Team pick has started all 29 games for FSU and notched 25 double-figure scoring games to date.

In her collegiate career, the senior standout has currently netted 1,401 career points along with 772 rebounds, 158 blocks and 151 assists. She ranks among the school's top all-time career standouts in both rebounds and blocked shots. This season, she also received recognition by being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team.

Humes garnered all-conference recognition for the first time in her Bulldog career after ranking as one of the team's leading scorers at 10.3 points per game this year. Overall, she's totaled 298 points this season while starting all 29 games and presently owns 545 career points in 56 outings over the past two years.

A two-year starter and letterwinner, Humes has also dished out 69 assists this year and compiled a team-high 60 steals with 21 blocked shots in addition to 78 rebounds overall.

Together, McInerney and Humes have led the Bulldogs to the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals for the first time since 2012 after an impressive upset win over second-seeded Michigan Tech in the quarterfinal-round on Wednesday night in Houghton.

The seventh-seeded Bulldogs will next square off against third-seeded rival Grand Valley State in Saturday's (March 3) league semifinals at Ashland's Kates Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. (ET) with the winner advancing to Sunday's league tournament title game.
