Women's Basketball Drops Road Contest At Top-Ranked Ashland On Saturday

Ashland, Ohio, - The Ferris State University women's basketball team fell to the nationally #1 ranked Ashland Eagles in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play on the road at Kates Gymnasium 94-60.

Despite sticking close to Ashland in the opening seven minutes of the contest, the Eagles were able to pull away in the second and third quarters.

Ferris State was led in scoring by sophomore guard Adrienne Anderson, who picked up 12 points and shot 4-7 from the floor in 27 minutes. Sophomore guard Shaniya Huggins dished out five assists, while junior forward Lilly George and freshman forward Zoe Anderson each led the Bulldogs with five rebounds.

The Eagles were led in scoring by the 31 points of Jodi Johnston, who also picked up seven rebounds and five steals for Ashland.

The rebound battle was fairly tight, the Eagles held a 33-32 edge, and a 19-12 lead in the steals battle. Ashland's biggest edge was in points off of turnovers with a 38-9 margin, followed by points in the paint at 54-30.

Ferris State did win the points off the bench margin 32-23. The Bulldogs finished the day shooting 38.3 percent, while the Eagles shot 56.3 percent on the day.

The Bulldogs return home to take on the Northwood Timberwolves at 5:30 pm on Thursday (Dec. 6) at Wink Arena.
