Ferris State Notches Second-Straight Home Court Victory By Beating Parkside

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad put together another impressive performance on Saturday (Jan. 19) as the Bulldogs secured their second consecutive win with a 74-60 victory over visiting Wisconsin-Parkside at FSU's Jim Wink Arena.

The Bulldogs jumped in front early for the second-straight game, building an early 9-2 lead en route to owning a 16-13 margin after the opening period. FSU then outscored the Rangers 22-8 over the second 10 minutes of action.

In the second half, the Bulldogs' lead grew to as many as 20 points early in the third before the Rangers trimmed the margin back to a single possession. However, FSU used a big fourth quarter spurt to put the game out of reach en route to the win.

Ferris State improved to 9-7 overall and 6-4 in the GLIAC with the win as three FSU players reached double-figure scoring.

The Bulldogs were led by senior guard Alexis Bush, who had a game-high 23 points and went 14-of-14 from the free throw stripe. Junior forward Riley Blair led FSU early and finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds in a double-double showing while redshirt freshman guard Kelsey Wyman added 15 points in the win.

Ferris State shot 54% from the floor and hit four-of-11 (36.4%) three's along with 18-of-21 (85.7%) free throws.

Meanwhile, FSU limited Parkside to only 38% shooting for the game with the Rangers going four-of-21 (19%) from long range and 10-of-14 (71.4%) at the line.

Parkside was led by Blair Arthur's 18 points and nine rebounds. Ali Bettencourt added 17 points in the setback at the Rangers fell to 6-10 overall and 4-6 in the GLIAC.

Ferris State held a 33-31 rebounding margin and came up with 12 steals and three blocked shots. The Bulldogs also dished out 22 assits, including seven by Bush and five from sophomore guard Adrienne Anderson. Parkside had nine steals and 16 assists with 19 turnovers in the game.

Overall, the Bulldogs held a 15-9 margin in points off turnovers and a 17-9 edge in fast break scoring along with a 36-30 advantage inside the paint.

Ferris State will host Lake Superior State on Saturday, Jan. 26, as the Bulldogs wrap up a three-game homestand inside Wink Arena. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. (ET).
