Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad completed a weekend road sweep with a big 79-77 triumph over Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday (Feb. 23) in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play in Kenosha, Wis.

The Bulldogs scored the game-winner on a layup from sophomore guard Adrienne Anderson with two-tenths of a second left in the game to earn the win.

FSU had built a three-point lead late in the game before the Rangers tied the contest with a long range trey from Blair Arthur only to see Bulldog junior Brayene Benner push the Bulldogs back up with an answer bucket in the final 10 seconds.

Following Benner's shot on a drive to give FSU the advantage once more, the Rangers responded as the Bulldogs fouled 6-4 center Shelby Cheston, who made both free throws to tie the game up with 2.7 seconds left. FSU took timeout to advance the ball and Riley Blair found Anderson, who drove to the hole and scored, giving the Bulldogs the win.

The game was an important one with both teams tied for fifth place overall in the GLIAC heading into the afternoon tilt.

Sophomore guard Shaniya Huggins had a big day for FSU with a team-high 25 points in the win. Anderson added 18 points, six assists and four steals in the triumph while Benner chipped in with 14 points and 16 rebounds in a double-double effort. Blair added 10 points overall.

Meanwhile, Parkside got a game-high 28 points from Arthur with Ali Bettencourt adding 16 points and Carolina Rahkonen chipping in 15 points.

Ferris State shot 39.7% from the floor and had 21 turnovers, but FSU also owned a decisive 51-23 rebounding edge and grabbed 20 offensive boards to only one for the Rangers, which led to a 16-0 margin in second chance scoring. The Bulldogs also outscored the Rangers 44-30 in the paint.

With the win, FSU improved to 13-12 overall and 10-9 in GLIAC play.

The Bulldogs currently have a one-game lead over both Northwood and Parkside for the fifth seed for the league tournment heading into the regular-season finale.

Ferris State will visit Lake Superior State for its final regular-season contest on Thursday, Feb. 28, with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. (ET) in Sault Ste. Marie.
