Ferris State Responds With Big Second Half To Garner Fourth-Straight Road Win

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad rallied back from an eight-point halftime deficit to win their fourth consecutive road contest as the Bulldogs topped Northern Michigan 66-60 on Thursday (Jan. 16) night inside the Berry Events Center in Marquette.

The Bulldogs fell behind at the break 30-22, but outscored NMU 21-12 in the third period to take the lead and then totaled 23 points in the final frame to pull out the win.

With the triumph, the Bulldogs improved to 11-5 overall and 5-3 in league play. The win was FSU's fourth in a row on a five-game Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road swing.

Junior guard Adrienne Anderson tallied 19 points for the Bulldogs and added four steals, which included coming up with several big defensive plays down the stretch in the win.

The Bulldogs also got a team-high tying 19 points from senior forward Riley Blair to go with 14 points from freshman forward Chloe Idoni, who hit a trio of three-pointers in the second half.

NMU was led by Jessica Schultz, who totaled 19 points, with Makaylee Kuhn and Amber Huebner adding 10 points apiece.

Overall, FSU 45% from the floor and went seven-of-15 (46.7%) from three-point range while making 13-of-16 (81.3%) free throws.

Northern Michigan finished shooting at a 41% clip from the floor and made eight-of-29 (27.6%) three's, but hit on only two-of-13 tries in the second half. The Wildcats converted six-of-eight (75%) free throws.

Ferris State was outrebounded slightly 32-29 for the night, but FSU totaled 16 points on the break to only two for the Wildcats.

Freshman guard Mallory McCartney had a game-high 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs will wrap up a five-game conference road swing as they close out their trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula on Saturday (Jan. 18) versus Michigan Tech starting at 1 p.m. (ET) in Houghton.
