Ferris State Notches Fifth-Straight Road Win With Overtime Triumph

Houghton, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad closed out its five-game Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road swing with a 80-73 overtime victory on Saturday (Jan. 18) afternoon over Michigan Tech in snowy Houghton.

The Bulldogs and the Huskies squared off at MTU's Student Development Complex Gymnasium with Ferris State evenually earning the win in the extra stanza.

Senior forward Riley Blair paced FSU with a game-high 30 points as the Bulldogs seized control early in the extra session to garner the triumph. Freshman guard Mallory McCartney added 18 points and junior guard Adrienne Anderson scored 16 points for FSU.

Both Blair and McCartney added 11 rebounds each while posting double-double performances. All five of FSU's starters played 36 minutes or more in the triumph.

The Bulldogs shot 65% from the floor in the first half and eventually led by as many as 15 points before the Huskies rallied. FSU outscored MTU 13-6 in overtime.

MTU's Abbie Botz led four Huskies' players in double-figures with 17 points. FSU limited Michigan Tech to 38% shooting compared to a 46% shooting figure of its own.

The win was the fifth-straight on the road for the Bulldogs.

With the decision, the Bulldogs are now 12-5 overall and 6-3 in GLIAC hoops action.

Ferris State returns home to host Wisconsin-Parkside on Thursday (Jan. 23) night starting at 7:30 p.m. (ET) inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena.
