Ferris State To Battle GVSU In D2 Women's Basketball Regional On Friday In Missouri

Big Rapids, Mich. - Official game times have been set for the 2020 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Women's Basketball Tournament, which will begin on Friday (March 13) in Springfield, Mo.

Ferris State, which captured the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Championship and will be making its first national tournament appearance in eight years, will square off against rival Grandd Valley State in the first round of the national tournament.

The contest will be the last of four regional quarterfinal-round games on Friday evening beginning at 9:30 p.m. (ET) at the O'Reilly Family Event Center in Springfield, Mo.

The complete first round matchups and regional seedings are listed below:

Friday, March 13
1 p.m. ET: No. 3 Walsh vs. No. 6 Lewis
3:30 p.m. ET: No. 2 Ashland vs. No. 7 Southern Indiana
7 p.m. ET: No. 1 Drury vs. No. 8 Lindenwood
9:30 p.m. ET: No. 4 Grand Valley State vs. No. 5 Ferris State

The winners will take part in the regional semifinal games on Saturday (March 14) with the first semifinal at 6 p.m. (ET) and the second semifinal game at 8:30 p.m. (ET). The Bulldogs would play in the second regional semifinal on Saturday with an opening-round victory.

The regional championship game is on Monday (March 16) at 8 p.m. (ET).

Individual session tickets for the NCAA Regional will go on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m. and are $12 for single seassion adult reserved seats or $5 for child reserved seats. An adult reserved seat tournament pass is $25 with a child reserved seat tournament pass offered for $10. Single-session college student seats are $4 with a university student ID. The single-elimination national tournament field includes eight regions of eight teams apiece. The Midwest Regional champion will advance to the NCAA Division Elite Eight set for March 24-27 in Birmingham, Ala.

Ferris State will be making its fifth NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament appearance in the program's history. The Bulldog women's squad last made the field in 2011-12 when FSU reached the Midwest Regional semifinals. The Bulldogs also made berths in 1999-00, 2003-04 and 2006-07 when FSU made its deepest run by reaching the regional final and the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen.

This year also represents the first time in school history in which both the Bulldog men's and women's basketball squads have advanced to the NCAA Tournament in the same season.

Friday's regional quarterfinal game will be carried live by local flagship station Sunny 97.3 FM and the Bulldog Sports Network with Harrison Watt calling the play-by-play action. Pregame coverage will get underway a half-hour prior to tipoff from Springfield.
