Ferris State Caps Off Trip To The Upper Peninsula With Victory At Michigan Tech

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad capped off a trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula by scoring an impressive 80-74 win over Michigan Tech on Saturday (Dec. 11) afternoon in Houghton.

The Bulldogs built a 10-point lead after one quarter and expanded the margin to 16 at halftime before holding off MTU down the stretch to move to 10-1 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the GLIAC.

Junior guard Mallory McCartney tallied a team-high 22 points and went seven-of-12 from the three-point line in the road win while senior guard Adrienne Anderson added 20 points and also connected on four three's in the victory. Meanwhile, sophomore guard Kadyn Blanchard poured in 16 points for the Bulldogs with freshman Mya Hiram adding eight points off the bench.

The Bulldogs shot 14-of-30 (46.7%) from long range and made 42.2% of their shots overall while sinking 12-of-19 (63.2%) free throws.

Ferris State also took care of the ball on the afternoon, turning it over only eight times as compared to 15 miscues from the Huskies.

Michigan Tech was paced by Alex Rondort with 21 points and Ellie Mackay added 18 points while Sara Dax scored 13 points in the high-scoring affair.

The Huskies shot 50% overall, but were only five-of-22 (22.7%) from long range while hitting 15-of-20 (75%) free throws.

Anderson added five assists and three blocked shots in the win with McCartney totaling both four assists and four steals. FSU was led on the glass by Zoe Anderson and Ellie Dykstra with six rebounds each.

The Bulldogs are off until Dec. 31 when they visit Indianapolis for a New Year's Eve tilt on the road with tipoff set for 3:30 p.m. (ET) in Indy.
