Ferris State Battles Back In Close Road Setback At Wayne State

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad rallied back and had an opportunity to pull out a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic (GLIAC0 road win, but fell short 58-55 at the Wayne State Fieldhouse against the Warriors in Detroit.

Ferris State shot only 6.7% in the opening quarter and trailed 13-4 after the first period before rallying back to pull within two points at halftime. FSU took the lead late, but WSU responded and earned the win despite being outscored 19-14 in the final frame.

FSU was led by freshman Elle Irwin with 14 points as she connected on three-of-six tries from behind the three-point line. Senior Chloe Idoni added 11 points and six boards before fouling out of the game with nearly five minutes remaining.

The Warriors were paced by Shea Tripp with 18 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Rebecca Fugate added 13 points and Maxine Moore scored 10 points for WSU.

Ferris State dropped to 11-7 overall and 4-5 in the GLIAC with the setback while WSU moved to 10-7 overall and 3-6 in conference play.

Ferris State will host Michigan Tech on Thursday (Jan. 26) night at Jim Wink Arena starting at 5:30 p.m. (ET).
