DeBoer Concludes NCAA Women's Golf Championships Tied For 38th Place

Ferris State University freshman Jacqueline DeBoer (Grand Rapids/ South Christian) wrapped up her initial campaign for the Crimson and Golf by finishing in a 38th-place tie with a 316 four-round score at the 2011 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships held May 11-14 at Allendale, Mich.

DeBoer, who posted a 28-strokes over-par 316 total (77-79-78-82=316, +28) for the 72-hole tourney, concluded action this Saturday (May 14) with a final-round 10-over-par 82-stroke total on the par 72, 6,111-yard The Meadows Golf Course at Grand Valley State University.

The 2010-11 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Golf Freshman of the Year, registered a par on eight of the front nine holes and birdied the par four number two hole.  DeBoer would tally a pair of pars on the 14th and 16th pins with scores of five and four, respectively.  The 2010-11 All-GLIAC First-Team performer ended up in a six-way tie for 38th-place honors. 

Two-time defending national champion Nova Southeastern (Fla.) claimed the 2011 national title as the Sharks compiled a five-over-par 1,157 score among the 12 participating teams.  NSU's Taylor Collins turned in a NCAA-II record-setting 278 score (-10) to earn medalist recognition among 72 individual competitors as the Sharks featured the top three individual finishers. 

DeBoer, who represented the first Ferris State to play as an individual at the NCAA-II Championships, closed out her 2010-11 season leading the Bulldogs with an 80.23 stroke average (2,086 total strokes) in 26 rounds.  She also accumulated eight top-20 place performances, which included three among the top five this campaign.
