FSU Golf Takes Sixth At Bing Beall Fall Classic

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team wrapped up action in the annual William "Bing Beall" Fall Classic hosted by the University of Findlay with a sixth-place performance on Monday (Oct. 10) in Findlay, Ohio.

The Bulldogs were in sixth place after shooting a 325 team score in Sunday's (Oct. 9) opening round of the two-day event at the Findlay Country Club and maintained that position with a final round score of 331 to finish at 656 overall.

Grand Valley State claimed top team honors with a 625 followed by California (Pa.) at 630 and Gannon (Pa.) with a 639 among the top three in the 15-team field on the par 72 course that measured 5,971 yards.

Seniors Bryce Hetchler (Clinton Township/Fraser) and Erin Fuchik (Tulsa, Okla./Bishop Kelley) both paced FSU as they finished in a tie for 13th place overall with scores of 160 over the two rounds.  Hetchler carded a 78 followed by an 82 while Fuchik shot 80 both days.

Sophomore Jacqueline DeBoer (Grand Rapids/South Christian) fired rounds of 82 and 85 to finish with a 167, which was good enough for a tie of 34th place.

Bulldog sophomore Emily Rohdy (Farwell) and senior Brooke Rodes (Traverse City/West) both tied for 41st in the field at 170 as Rohdy shot 86 and 84 while Rodes carded an 85 in both rounds.

FSU senior Breezy Bernth (Greenville) competed as an individual and finished tied for 39th place with a 169 on rounds of 88 and 81 overall.

A total of 88 golfers competed in the two-round event.

Ferris State will wrap up the fall portion of its 2011-12 schedule by competing in the Grand Valley State Laker Classic on Oct. 22-23 in Allendale, Mich.
