Bulldog Women's Golf Second At Tiffin Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team placed second overall in the Tiffin Invitational held on Sunday and Monday, April 15-16, in Tififn, Ohio.

The Bulldogs posted a tourney low-round of 321 to take the early advantage on Sunday before carding a 335 on Monday to finish at 656 for the tournament.  Findlay matched FSU's 321 score in the final round to win the event with a 651 total at the Mohawk Golf and Country Club.

Ashland came in third at 658, Northwood took fourth place with a 697 total and Ohio Dominican rounded out the top five with a 704 mark in the seven-team tournament on the par 72 course at a distance of 5,830 in length.

Erin Fuchik paced the Bulldogs as she placed fifth in the field with rounds of 80 and 82 while carding a 162 total.

Behind Fuchik was Bryce Hetchler, who placed tied for sixth at 163 on rounds of 79 and 84.

FSU's Jacqueline DeBoer finished tied for ninth overall at 167 with scores of 81 and 86 in rounds one and two, respectively.

Brooke Rodes wound up 11th overall at 168 as she tallied marks of 81 and 87.  Finally, Emily Rohdy gave the Bulldogs their fifth finisher among the top 15 overall as she came in tied for 14th place with a 170 total on rounds of 87 and 83.

Blaize Baumgartner competed individually in the tournament and was 26th overall at 179 as she fired rounds of 88 and 91 over the two days of competition.

Ferris State will next take part in the 2012 GLIAC Championships scheduled for April 23-24 in Midland, Mich.
