FSU Women Move Up One Spot At Regional

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf squad moved up one spot after Monday's (May 7) second day of competition in the NCAA Division II East Super Regional at the Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio.

FSU shot a 322 in the second round after Sunday's opening day 321 score and is presently at 643 (+67) for the 54-hole tournament.

Indianapolis holds the second round lead with a 607 (+31) on the par 72 course measuring 6,079 yards.  Grand Valley State is second (618) followed by Drury (Mo.) at 619 in the top three overall.

Monday's second day of competition was pushed back to a later start due to rain, but all nine competing teams were able to finish the round.  The third and final round is set for Tuesday (May 8) in Findlay.

Jacqueline DeBoer presently leads the Bulldogs as she is tied for 13th in the field at 157 after posting a team-low score of 77 in Monday's round. 

Meanwhile, senior Bryce Hetchler is tied for 22nd at 161 after following up her 74 on Sunday with an 87 on Monday.

FSU's Brooke Rodes carded an 80 in the second round and ranks tied for 27th with a 162 total.  She's followed by senior Erin Fuchik, who posted a 81 on Monday to move into a tie for 37th overall at 166 after two rounds.

Finally, Emily Rohdy is 43rd overall at 169 after shooting an 84 on Monday.

The Bulldogs are making their 11th consecutive regional tournament appearance.

Each super regional consists of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently with nine teams and four individuals from non-qualifying teams at each site. All participants compete throughout the 54 holes of competition. The top three teams along with the top three individuals not affiliated with a team from each super regional, will advance to the national championships.

The 2012 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships will be held May 16-19, at Persimmon Ridge Golf Course in Louisville, Ky.
