Bulldogs Finish Tied For Sixth At Regional

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team climbed up yet another notch and finished the 2011-12 campaign tied for sixth in the NCAA Division II East Super Regional, which wrapped up on Tuesday (May 8) at Findlay, Ohio.

FSU, which was eighth following Sunday's initial round in the 54-hole tournament, moved up one spot for the second consecutive day after shooting the day's second-lowest round with a 309 score at the Findlay Country Club.  

The Bulldogs finished at 952 for the tournament on rounds of 321, 322 and 309 over the three days, respectively.

Indianapolis claimed the team title with a 911 score followed by Grand Valley State (927) and California, Pa. (932) in the top three of the nine-team event.

Jacqueline DeBoer led the Bulldogs by finishing tied for 12th in the field with a 235 total.  She posted a final-round score of 78 on Tuesday.

Senior Bryce Hetchler carded a 77 over the final 18 holes to finish tied for 17th overall at 238 for the tournament.

Senior Erin Fuchik also placed in the top 20 overall as she came in tied for 19th with a 239 figure following an impressive final-round score of 73 on Tuesday.

Brooke Rodes wound up tied for 30th in the field at 243 with a 81 while Emily Rohdy rounded out the FSU lineup with an 81 as well to finish tied for 43rd with a 250 total.

The Bulldogs were making their 11th consecutive regional tournament appearance.

Each super regional consisted of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently with nine teams and four individuals from non-qualifying teams at each site. All participants competed throughout the 54 holes of competition. The top three teams along with the top three individuals not affiliated with a team from each super regional advanced to the national championships.
