Women's Golf Caps Successful FSU Weekend By Winning Tourney

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team capped off a highly-successful weekend for Bulldog Athletics by winning the annual "Bing Beall" Fall Classic hosted by the University of Findlay on Sunday and Monday (Oct. 7-8) in Findlay, Ohio.

The Bulldogs tallied a two-round total of 617 on the par 72 course at the Findlay Country Club to win the 15-team field.  FSU finished a single stroke ahead of rival Grand Valley State as the Lakers recorded a 618 finish.

Ferris State shot rounds of 305 on Sunday followed by 312 on Monday to hold off the rest of the field.  FSU and GVSU were clearly in front of the remaining schools as Ashland took third palce at 642 and host Findlay came in fourth with a 644 figure.

Bulldog junior Emily Rohdy placed third individually in leading the Bulldogs.  She fired rounds of 75 and 78 to finish at 153 for the tournament.

Rohdy was closely followed by fellow junior Jacqueline DeBoer, who posted identical rounds of 77 to notch a 154 stroke figure over the two days of competition for fourth place.  Another junior, Ashley Swanson, was only a stroke back at 155 on rounds of 76 and 79, respectively, to place seventh in the event.

FSU freshman Elizabeth Bauernfeind took 15th place with a 158 score on rounds of 77 and 81 while freshman Libby Berens came in 20th at 162 with scores of 84 and 78 overall.

The individual winner was GVSU's Kelly Hartigan, who posted a 145 with scores of 73 and 72.  The course measured 5,844 yards.  A total of 89 golfers were in the field.

The event was the final scheduled fall competition for the Bulldog women's golf team.
