Women's Golf Ninth After Round One At BGSU Falcon Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team posted a opening-round 340 score on Saturday (April 13) under tough weather conditions and is currently in ninth place overall at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational hosted by Bowling Green State University.

A total of 16 teams are taking part in the event in Bowling Green, Ohio, including a handful of NCAA Division I programs.  The final day of competition is set for Sunday (April 14).

The teams battled wind and rain on Saturday, which included rough winds, a steady drizzle and even some sleet.

Host Bowling Green State and the University of Detroit both lead the event with a 322 score followed by Indianapolis in third place with a 323 team total.

Individually, both BGSU's Amy Ruthenberg and Detroit's Olivia Richards are tied for first overall with 77 scores following opening-round play.

Ferris State was led on the first day by Emily Rohdy with a 82, which is tied for 15th overall.  She was followed by Jacqueline DeBoer in a tie for 32nd place with a 84 on the day.

The Bulldogs' Cooper Shawen carded a 86 and is tied for 43rd place with Ashley Swanson and Libby Berens both tied for 56th place with 88 scores.

The par 72 course measured 5,690 yards.

The final round of the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational begins on Sunday at 9 a.m. (ET) at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green.
