Bulldog Women's Golf Third Overall After Day One At GLIAC Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team opened up action in the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships on Friday (April 26) in Bowling Green, Ohio, and presently sits in third place overall heading into round two.

The Bulldogs carded a 321 team score in Friday's first of three rounds of the 54-hole event and trail leader Grand Valley State and Ashland in the overall team standings.  GVSU posted a 312 team score followed by Ashland at 319 and FSU in third.  A total of 10 schools are taking part in the annual leage event at Stone Ridge Golf Course.

The GLIAC Championships are being hosted by Tiffin University and play continues with second round action on Saturday afternoon starting at 1:30 p.m. (ET). The final round takes place on Sunday (April 28) beginning at 8:30 a.m. (ET).

FSU's Jacqueline DeBoer registered a 77 in Friday's 18 holes of action and presently sits tied for second place overall in the individual field.  The leader is GVSU's Kelly Hartigan, who posted a 75 in round one.

A pair of Bulldog golfers, Libby Berens and Ashley Swanson, are currently tied for 11th overall as both notched 81's on Friday. 

Meanwhile, Cooper Shawen registered an 82 in the first round and is tied for 15th overall while junior Emily Rohdy is 22nd overall with an 86 in the opening round.

Ashland, Ferris State, Findlay, Grand Valley State, Lake Erie, Lake Superior State, Malone, Northwood, Ohio Dominican, Tiffin and Walsh are competing in the GLIAC Championships.
