Two Ferris State Golfers Earn All-America Scholar Honors For Third Consecutive Year

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University women's golfers Jacqueline DeBoer (Grand Rapids/South Christian) and Emily Rohdy (Farwell), who both wrapped up their junior campaigns for the Bulldogs this past spring, have added yet another award to their impressive lists.
Both DeBoer and Rohdy were recently tabbed as Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America Scholars for the third consecutive year. The WGCA All-America Scholar Teams for Division I, II & III were announced with a total of 644 women's collegiate golfers recognized with this prestigious honor.
The criteria for selection to the All-America Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 over their entire collegiate career and student-athletes must have completed in at least 66 percent of their team's regularly-scheduled competitive rounds during the respective season. They must also be of high moral character and in good academic standing.
In addition to earning All-America Scholar Team accolades for the third-straight year, both players were previously recognized as All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) selections for the third year in a row. DeBoer claimed first team kudos for the second time in her career after being named to both the first team and chosen as the GLIAC Freshman of the Year two seasons ago prior to earning second-team status last season. Meanwhile, Rohdy is a three-time All-GLIAC Second Team pick.
DeBoer was among the top 25 performers in four tournaments this spring, including a fourth-place finish at the GLIAC Championships and a share of 25th place at the 2013 NCAA Division II East Super Regional. She was among the top 30 golfers overall in seven tournaments during the 2012-13 season.
Rohdy also had a strong showing in 2012-13 as she posted six top 20 efforts and was in
the top 30 at seven different events. Her totals included 16th place at the GLIAC Championships in addition to placing among the top 30 in five consecutive events this spring.
Ferris State made its 12th consecutive national tournament appearance under sixth-year head coach Mike Mignano this past season. The Bulldogs placed seventh overall at the 2012 NCAA Division II East Regional Championships held May 5-7 in Joliet, Ill.
FSU also placed third overall at the 2013 GLIAC Championships (April 26-28) at Stone Ridge Golf Course in Bowling Green, Ohio.
The Women's Golf Coaches Association, formerly known as the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA), began in 1983 as an organization to promote participation in women's collegiate golf. The vision of the WGCA since its inception has been to encourage the playing of intercollegiate golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition.
The WGCA instills within coaches of women's golf a deeper sense of responsibility for the promotion, development, maintenance and conduct of competitive golf for women. Today, the WGCA represents the finest coaches in women's golf with a membership of over 550 coaches of Division I, II & III, NAIA and NJCAA collegiate programs.
