Ferris State Women's Golf Takes Third At Perry Park Spring Fling

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team registered a third-place overall finish in the Perry Park Spring Fling held this past weekend (March 22-23) in Perry Park, Ky.

The Bulldogs, who won their opening tournament of the spring the week prior in Florida, shot a 944 team score over the three rounds of action on the par 72 course measuring 5,840 yards.

FSU carded a 317 in round one followed by a 316 and a 311 over the final two rounds, respectively, in the 54-hole event.

Grand Valley State won the team title with a 926 score while Indianapolis finished second (935) in front of the Bulldogs. A total of 23 schools were in the field and FSU's 311 score in the final round was the best score over the final 18 holes of action.

FSU was led by senior Ashley Swanson, who tied for fourth in the field with a 229 score. She carded back-to-back 75's in the first two rounds followed by a 79 in the final round.

Behind Swanson was fellow senior Jacqueline Mulder in a tie for 21st place, which also included teammate Elizabeth Bauernfeind. Both posted scores of 238 as Mulder shot 82, 78, 78 and Bauernfeind recorded scores of 80, 82 and 76 over each round.

The Bulldogs' Libby Berens came in tie for 33rd overall with a 242 figure. She shot 80 in round one before posting an 84 in round two and a 78 in the final round.

Finally, senior Emily Rohdy tied for 37th in the field at 243 for the 54 holes on rounds of 82, 81 and 80, respectively.

Ferris State also had an individual competitor in Kelsey McKinley, who placed tied for 56th with a score of 250 in the event. She carded an 84 in the opening round before registering an 88 and closing with a 78 in the final round of action.

The Bulldogs are right back in action on Monday (March 24) as they continue their trip to Kentucky by taking part in the Bellarmine Invitational in Louisville.
