Bulldog Senior Ashley Swanson Chosen As GLIAC Women's Golf Athlete Of Week

Big Rapids, Mich. - Senior Ashley Swanson (Flushing/Flint Powers Catholic Central) of the Ferris State University women's golf program has been tabbed as this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Golf Athlete of the Week for her recent performance. The award is sponsored by Hit Trophy.

Swanson led the Bulldogs to a fourth-place team finish at the JBMF Cavalier Classic hosted by Walsh University last week on April 13-14 in Canton, Ohio. In the event, she paced the Bulldogs as she tied for runner-up honors with a 153 figure on rounds of 79 and 74 over the two days, respectively.

She was part of a three-player playoff for the top spot and was one of three Bulldogs to place in the top 20 overall in the 14-school event.

The showing represented the Bulldogs' sixth top-four team finish in as many spring tournaments this year.

Swanson is the second Bulldog player to receive the distinction in the last three weeks, joining teammate Libby Berens, who was recognized on April 10.

The Bulldogs will take part in the 2014 GLIAC Championships to be held this weekend (April 25-27) in New Albany, Ohio.
