Big Rapids, Mich. - For the 13th consecutive year, Ferris State University will be represented at the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Super Regionals as the Bulldogs earned a postseason berth to the 2014 East Super Regional as announced Monday (April 28) by the NCAA-II Women's Golf Committee. 

FSU will make its 13th straight NCAA-II Regional Tournament appearance after making its debut back in the 2001-02 season with a third-place showing. To date, the Bulldogs have won a regional tourney twice (2003-04 and 2006-07) while attaining runner-up honors on four occasions (2004-05, 2005-06, 2007-08, and 2008-09).

Ferris State is among nine teams who will playing in the 2014 East Super Regional from May  4-6 at the Purgatory Golf Club in Indianapolis, Ind.  The University of Indianapolis will be hosting the East Super Regional Tournament.

The Bulldogs, who are coached by seventh-year head coach Mike Mignano, are seeded third among the East Region teams.  Indianapolis is the top seed while Grand Valley State and FSU are the second and third seeds, respectively. Ashland is fourth and Findlay is seeded fifth.  

The remainder of the East Region field is comprised of sixth-seed California (Pa.), seventh-seed Missouri-St. Louis, number eight seed Southern Indiana along with ninth-seeded Drury (Mo.).  Four individuals will also take part.

Last season, Ferris State placed seventh overall in the 2013 NCAA-II East Regional Championships in Joliet, Ill.

Ferris State previously earned second-place honors at the 2009 NCAA-II East Regional as a result of generating a three-round 960-stroke total at the Cedarbrook Golf Course in Belle Vernon.  The Bulldogs, who qualified for the national tournament with their runner-up performance in '09, recorded rounds of 320, 321, and 319 to finish 96 strokes over par and second to regional champion Grand Valley State (918, +54).     

Each super regional will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently with nine teams and four individuals from non-qualifying teams at each site. All participants will compete throughout the 54 holes of competition. The top three teams along with the top three individuals not affiliated with a team from each super regional, will advance to the national championships.

The 2014 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships will be held May 14-17, at Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, N.C. The championships will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently. All participants will compete throughout the entire 72 holes of competition. In the team competition, the low four scores for each team will count in each day's total score. The number of participants that qualify for the finals is 72.

Ferris State placed second overall at this past weekend's (April 25-27) GLIAC Championships hosted by Ohio Dominican University in New Albany, Ohio.  The showing represented FSU's highest league finish since 2008.

The Bulldog women's golf team will join the Ferris State men's golf team in NCAA Regional action this coming week.  The Bulldog men received their 12th-straight national tournament berth over the weekend.
