Three Ferris State Women's Golfers Claim All-GLIAC Recognition

Big Rapids, Mich. - Three Ferris State University women's golfers ranked among the best in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) for the 2013-14 season as the league recently announced its all-conference teams.
The Bulldogs had one player named to each of the three All-GLIAC squads as part of the all-conference process. Senior Ashley Swanson (Flushing/Flint Powers Catholic Central) was a first-team choice with fellow senior Jacqueline Mulder (Byron Center) claiming second-team recognition and freshman Kelsey McKinley (Muskegon/Mona Shores) earning honorable mention status.
A total of six players were named to each of the three squads with 18 honorees honored overall.
All-GLIAC Womn's Golf selections were based upon a player's stroke average in her nine best rounds in league play, including the rounds of the GLIAC Tournament. All ties were also broken by total strokes in the conference tournament.
This year marked the fourth consecutive year in which Mulder has attained either All-GLIAC First or Second Team recognition. She was tabbed as a first-team pick while also earning GLIAC Freshman of the Year recognition in 2010-11 and then claimed second-team status as a sophomore before picking up first-team recognition as a junior a year ago.
Meanwhile, Swanson attained all-conference accolades for the second-straight year after previously being named to the second-team squad a year ago. McKinley received All-GLIAC honors for the first time in her collegiate career.
The Bulldogs, under seventh-year head coach Mike Mignano, made their 13th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance in women's golf this season. FSU placed fourth overall in the 2014 NCAA East Super Regional in early May and narrowly missed advancing to the NCAA-II National Championships.
The Bulldogs' top four finish at the regional championships marked the eighth time in as many tournaments this spring in which Ferris State finished among the top four teams, including a runner-up showing in the 2014 GLIAC Championships prior to the NCAA East Regional. FSU's fourth place overall finish in the regional competition marked its best showing since last advancing to the national championships in 2009.
FSU's senior contingent of Swanson, Mulder and Emily Rohdy (Farwell) wrapped up their Bulldog careers by leading Ferris State to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
