Berens Paces Bulldogs As FSU Women's Golf Moves Up On Final Day At Tiffin Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team carded a sixth-place finish as the Bulldogs concluded action on Monday (April 13) at the Tiffin Invitational held at Mohawk Golf and Country Club in Tiffin, Ohio.

The Bulldogs moved up the leaderboard on the final day by improving their team score by four strokes in the last 18 holes of action in the 36-hole event. FSU shot 344 in Sunday's first round before firing a 340 total on Monday to finish at 684 for the event.

A total of 13 teams took part in the tournament on the par 72 course measuring 5,911 yards.

The Bulldogs were paced by Libby Berens, who placed tied for 22nd in the field with a 170 total.

After shooting a 91 in the first round, she came back with a second-round 79 total on Monday as she improved by 12 strokes.

Sophomore Kelsey McKinley tied for 26th at 171 with rounds of 84 and 87 over the two days of action, respectively.

Bheind McKinley was Claire Jansa for the Bulldogs, who placed tied for 32nd with a 173 figure as only three strokes seperated the Bulldogs' top three golfers in the field. Jansa shot a 90 on
Sunday before carding an 83 on Monday.

Junior Elizabeth Bauernfeind placed tied for 37th at 176 with rounds of 85 and 91 while Jordan Duvall was two strokes behind in a tie for 42nd place at 178 overall. Duvall shot 85 and 93 for the two rounds of action.

A total of nearly 80 golfers competed in the tournament.

Ferris State will compete in the Walsh Invitational on April 18-19 in Canton, Ohio, before taking part in the GLIAC Championships on April 24-25.
