Ferris State Women's Golf Concludes Action In Findlay Bing Beall Fall Classic

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team completed play in the Findlay Bing Beall Fall Classic on Monday (Oct. 12) as the annual event wrapped up at the Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio.

The Bulldogs concluded the two-day tournament with a 671 team score while placing ninth of 16 teams on the par 72 course. FSU shot a 333 score in the opening round and came back with a 338 score in Monday's final round.

Ferris State was led by senior Libby Berens, who finished among the top 20 in a share of 17th place. She shot identical rounds of 81 on both Sunday and Monday.

The Bulldogs' Jordan Duvall, a junior, came in tied for 29th with a 167 total as she carded a first-round 83 on Sunday before firing an 84 in Monday's final 18 holes of action.

Junior Kelsey McKinley placed tied for 46th at 173 overall on rounds of 88 and 85 in the first and second round, respectively.

Behind McKinley was freshman Destiny Lawson, who finished tied for 52nd in the field. Lawson shot a 87 the first day followed by an 88 in the second round.

Finally, freshman Sydney Murphy carded an 82 in Sunday's round and was 92nd in the field after not recording a Monday score.

Grand Valley State placed first (614) in the team race with host Findlay second (625) and Ashland third (642). The individual champion was GVSU's Gabrielle Shipley, who fired a 149 score to win the event by three strokes.

The Bulldogs are slated to wrap up the fall season on Oct. 25-26 at the Davenport University Invitational in Grand Rapids.
