Ferris State Women's Golf Opens Spring Action At Perry Park Spring Fling

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team opened the spring campaign at the Perry Park Spring Fling held this weekend in Perry Park, Ky.

The Bulldogs finished 15th overall in the large regional field with a 979 team score over three rounds of action. FSU shot a 315 in round one followed by scores of 337 and 327 over the final two rounds of play, respectively.

Senior Libby Berens paced the Bulldogs as she placed tied for 56th overall with a 245 total. Berens shot a first-round 82 and then came back with scores of 86 and 77 in the last two rounds.

FSU's Destiny Lawson finished tied for 60th and was only a stroke behind Berens with a 246 total. After carding a 77 in round one, she shot 88 and 81 in the final two rounds of play.

Behind Lawson was junior Kelsey McKinley and freshman Sydney Murphy, who both tied for 75th in the field with 249 totals. McKinley posted scores of 77, 82 and 90 in rounds one, two and three, respectively, while Murphy opened the tournament with a 79 followed by scores of 88 and 82 in the last two rounds.

Finally, Jordan Duvall rounded out the FSU lineup with a 258 total for a share of 100th place. She started the event with a 90, but came back to shoot an 81 in round two followed by a 87 in the final round.

FSU's Morgan Zloto also competed as an individual and shared 94th place with a 256 total on rounds of 85, 90 and 81 overall.

A total of 27 teams took part in the three-round event with round one action on the Antlers/White Tail courses followed by round two on the Buckskin/Antlers courses and the final round on the White Tail/Buckskin layouts.

Ferris State returns to action on April 3-4 at the Ohio Dominican Invitational in Blacklick, Ohio.
