Ferris State Women's Golf Takes 7th At Cav Classic In Ohio

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State women's golf team had four individuals place among the top 50 overall as the Bulldogs took seventh place this weekend at the Cav Classic hosted by Walsh University at the Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio.

Ferris State shot a first-round 330 total on Saturday and then came back with a 331 score in Sunday's final round to finish at 661 for the 36 holes of action.

The Bulldogs were led by senior Libby Berens, who fired a 158 figure to place tied for 14th in the field. She shot a first-round 78 and then notched an 80 in Sunday's final 18 holes of action.

Freshman Sydney Murphy carded a 167 total on rounds of 82 and 85 to finish tied for 33rd overall with sophomore Destiny Lawson firing a 168 total for a share of 35th place. She shot an 85 in round one followed by an 83 in the final round.

Junior Kelsey McKinley came in tied for 48th overall with a 173 score as she posted a 90 in the first round before carding an 83 in round two.

Finally, freshman Morgan Zloto placed tied for 51st at 174 with rounds of 85 and 89 for Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

A total of 15 schools took part in the two-day event.

The Bulldogs will take part in the 2016 GLIAC Championships this coming Friday thru Sunday (April 22-24) in Allendale, Mich.
