Bulldog Women's Golf Takes Fifth Place At 2016 GLIAC Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team concluded action in fifth place at the 2016 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships, which wrapped up Sunday (April 24) at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale.

The Bulldogs capped the three-round event with a 326 team score in Sunday's final 18 holes of action to finish with a 981 figure over the 54 holes of competition. The Bulldogs previously shot a 329 score in Friday's first round before also notching a 326 in Saturday's second day of play on the par 72 course measuring 6,095 yards.

Host Grand Valley State won the 12-team tournament with an 887 figure followed by Findlay (922), Ashland (930), Northwood (961) and FSU (981) in the top five overall.

Senior Libby Berens and junior Kelsey McKinley both finished tied for 16th overall in leading the Bulldogs at the GLIAC Championships. Berens carded a 79 in the final round to go with her 84 in round one and 78 in round two for a 241 total. Meanwhile, McKinley shot an 82 Sunday after posting scores of 79 and 80 in the first two rounds, respectively, to also finish at 241 for the tournament.

Freshman Destiny Lawson placed tied for 31st with a 250 total. She carded an 88 in Sunday's final round following identical scores of 81 the first two days.

Junior Jordan Duvall and sophomore Morgan Zloto both came in tied for 35th individually with 255 figures for the three rounds. Duvall shot 83 in round three after scores of 85 and 87 in rounds one and two, respectively. Zloto fired an 82 in the last round on Sunday to go with her 85 score in the opening round and 88 score for the middle round.

Ashland, Ferris State, Findlay, Grand Valley State, Lake Superior State, Malone, Northern Michigan, Northwood, Ohio Dominican, Tiffin, Walsh and Wayne State all competed in the event.

Official participants for the NCAA Division II Championships will be announced via NCAA.com on Monday with the NCAA-II East Regional set for May 2-4 in Springfield, Ill.
