Women's Golf Opens Season By Placing Third At NMU Wildcat Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf squad opened the 2016-17 season with a third-place finish over the weekend at the Northern Michigan Wildcat Invitational in Marquette.

The Bulldogs shot 520 overall while finishing behind host NMU (490) and Davenport (515) in the five-team field.

FSU was led by sophomore Destiny Lawson, who carded a 126 score for fifth place individually in the tournament.

Behind Lawson was senior Elizabeth Bauernfeind in a share of eighth place with a 129 total followed by junior Morgan Zloto at 11th overall with a 131 figure.

FSU freshman Danielle Frank took 13th place with a 133 total, senior Jordan Duvall came in tied for 15th at 135 while senior Kelsey McKinley posted a 136 for 18th place in the field.

Freshman Mari Suokko tallied a 142 score and finished 25th for the Bulldogs.

Ferris State will host its own Bulldog Invitational this weekend (Sept. 17-18) at FSU's Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids.
