Ferris State Improves By 17 Strokes On Final Day To Finish Ninth At NC4K College Classic

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team bettered its score by 17 strokes on the final day to move up to finish ninth overall at the 2017 NC4K College Classic hosted by Ohio Dominican University at the Jefferson Country Club in Blacklick, Ohio.

The Bulldogs shot a 339 team score in Sunday's (April 2) opening round of the 36-hole event, but came back to card a 322 figure in Monday's (April 3) final round to place among the top 10 squads in the 18-team event with a 661 final mark.

The tournament was won by the University of Indianapolis, which set a tourney record with a 588 total over the two days of action on the par 72 course measuring 5,901 yards. Findlay came in second (618) with Grand Valley State third (619). 

The Bulldogs were led by Morgan Zloto, who placed tied for 18th individually with a 158 score. She shot identical rounds of 79 in the tournament.

Senior Elizabeth Bauernfeind placed tied for 38th with a 164 figure as she shot a first-round 85 followed by a 79 in round two.

Ferris State's Destiny Lawson also finished among the top 50 individually in a share of 44th place. Her 167 total came on rounds of 85 Sunday and 82 on Monday.

FSU's Gianna Dela Cruz wound up tied for 58th in the field with scores of 90 and 82, respectively, to finish with a 172 score.

Finally, Olivia Pizii placed tied for 88th at 187 overall by shooting a first-round 95 followed by a 92 in the final round.

Ferris State's Katelin Randolph also took part in the tournament and competed as an individual. She finished tied for 66th overall with a 175 total on rounds of 91 and 84 Sunday and Monday, respectively.

The Bulldogs will next compete in the Delores Black Falcon Invite hosted by Bowling Green on Saturday and Sunday (April 8-9) in Bowling Green, Ohio.
