Ferris State Women's Golf Climbs Two Spots To Finish Eighth At Competitive Delores Black Falcon Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team moved up two spots in the final standings at the 2017 Delores Black Falcon Invitational hosted by Bowling Green as the event concluded on Sunday (April 9) at the Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio.

The Bulldogs moved up from 10th after round one to finish tied for eighth in the highly-competitive field, which included NCAA Division I schools such as Ohio, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Oakland, Cleveland State, Illinois State and Detroit in addition to Findlay and Lawrence Tech.

FSU carded a 334 score in Sunday's final 18 holes of action after notching a 336 team score in round one play on Saturday to finish at 670 overall for the two days of competition.

The Bulldogs were led by Elizabeth Bauernfeind, who placed tied for 20th in the field with a 162 total. After shooting an 82 in round one, she came back with an 80 in Sunday's action.

FSU's Katelin Randolph finished tied for 27th with a 164 total on rounds of 82 each day. Meanwhile, Mari Suokko came in tied for 36th as she shot an 81 in round one and an 88 in the final round to card a 169 for the event.

Ferris State's Morgan Zloto wound up tied for 52nd at 176 on rounds of 92 and 84 over the two days, respectively, while Gianna Dela Cruz rounded out the lineup in 57th place with a 187 figure. She shot a first-round 91 and a second-round 96 on the par 72 course.

The University of Ohio won the event with a 615 team score followed by host Bowling Green at 630 and Central Michigan in third place with a 635 score.

The Bulldogs are slated to continue action on Ohio the next two days as FSU takes part in the Cavalier Classic hosted by Walsh University on Monday and Tuesday, April 10-11, in Canton, Ohio.
