Ferris State Women's Golf Remains Eighth After Two Rounds At GLIAC Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team remained in eighth place following day two action at the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships on Saturday (April 22) at The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.

FSU shot a 342 figure in round two action and is currently tied with Saginaw Valley State for eighth overall in the league championships with a two-round, 680 total. The Bulldogs had carded a 338 mark in the first round on Friday of the 54-hole event.

Ferris State's Destiny Lawson is presently tied for seventh overall as she followed her first-round 74 total on Friday with an 83 round two for a 157 total to date.

Meanwhile, senior Elizabeth Bauernfeind shot an 84 on Saturday after carding an 89 in the opening round and is tied for 38th in the field with at 173 overall.

FSU's Morgan Zloto is only a stroke behind Bauernfeind at 174 thru two rounds as she improved by eight strokes on day two with an 83. She had shot a 91 in round one and is currently tied for 41st overall.

The Bulldogs' Mari Suokko is tied for 46th individually after posting a 92 in the second round on the heels of a first-round 84 score. She is currently at 176 overall for the tournament.

Finally, Olivia Pizii is 59th in the field with a 193 score after carding a 100 in Saturday's action. She had shot a 93 in the opening round.

The 2017 GLIAC Championships consist of 54 holes as the teams will play one round per day thru Sunday.  The low four of five scores will count towards the respective team score for each squad.

Action concludes with final round play on Sunday (April 23) at The Virtues, which measures 5,926 yards from the women's tees.
