Bulldogs' Destiny Lawson Named To All-GLIAC Women's Golf Second Team

Big Rapids, Mich. - Sophomore Destiny Lawson (Ocala, Fla.) of the Ferris State University women's golf team has been named to the 2017 All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Second Team in an announcement made by the league office.

A total of only six players were named to the all-conference first and second teams with six others garnering honorable mention honors this season.

Last weekend, Lawson paced the Bulldogs as she finished ninth overall in the individual field at the
2017 GLIAC Championships in Nashport, Ohio. She carded a 238 score for the 54-hole tournament. After shooting a 74 in round one on Friday and an 83 in the second round on Saturday, she closed the weekend with an 81 in the field round.

This season, Lawson placed among the top 15 golfers in seven of her eight outings during the year. She posted five top 10 finishes, including a season-best fifth place performance in the season-opening Northern Michigan Invitational. She ranked among the squad's leaders in nearly every event she competed in this campaign.

Lawson's recognition represents the first time in her collegiate career in which she has been named to the All-GLIAC squad.

This season, the Bulldog women's golf squad posted six top-eight tournament finishes, including a share of third place at the Kohler Classic to wrap up the fall season in Wisconsin. FSU finished ninth overall last weekend at the conference championships.
