Women's Golf Finishes Fourth At Lewis Flyer Intercollegiate Tourney

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf squad came away with a fourth-place team finish at the 2017 Lewis Flyer Intercollegiate Tourney held Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 2-3) in Lemont, Ill.

FSU shot a two-round 722 total for the event, which included a 363 first day figure followed by a 359 team score in the final 18 holes of action.

Ferris State freshman Baylee Thompson led the way with a fifth-place individual finish at 171 for the tourney. After an 85 in round one, she shot an 86 to wrap up the tourney.

The Bulldogs' Mari Suokko finished 15th overall with a 183 total on rounds of 98 and 85 over the two days of action.

Meanwhile, both Maddie Tran and Margo Brown placed tied for 17th in the field at 186 as each shot a 92 in the opening round followed by a 94 over the final round.

Finally, the Bulldogs' Morgan Zloto placed 21st in the field at 188 on back-to-back rounds o 94 each day.

Overall, Lewis shot a 683 team score to capture first place on its home course while Drury's (Mo.) Leisia Salazar was the individual winner with a 163 mark.

The Bulldogs next take part in the annual Beall Fall Classic hosted by the University of Findlay on Sunday and Monday, Oct. 8-9, in Findlay, Ohio.
