Women's Golf Takes Fifth Place At Ohio Dominican Snowflake Open

Big Rapids, Mich. - After weather forced a change in the schedule, the Ferris State University women's golf team returned to action on Monday (March 26) and came away with a fifth-place team finish at the Ohio Dominican Snowflake Open, which took place at the Cumberland Trail Golf Club in Pataskala, Ohio.

The Bulldogs were originally slated to compete in the Perry Park Spring Fling over the weekend, but inclement weather forced the cancellation of the tournament and instead ODU hosted a 36-hole tournament on Monday.

Ferris State shot a 341 team score in Monday's first round before coming back with a 323 figure in round two to finish with a 664 team total for the 36 holes. Saginaw Valley State won the seven-team event with a 626 figure.

The Bulldogs were led by freshman Baylee Thompson, who shot a 158 total for fifth place on identical rounds of 79 in each of the 18 holes of competition.

FSU's Katelin Randolph carded a 166 figure with a first-round 85 followed by an 81 in the final round to finish tied for 17th in the field.

Meanwhile, both Mari Suokko and Izzy Flack tied for 23rd each as both shot 170 for the two rounds. Suokko posted a 90 in round one and then bettered her score by 10 strokes in round two with an 80 score. Flack shot 87 in the opening 18 holes before notching a 83 in the final round.

Finally, FSU's Margo Brown tied for 32nd in the field at 179 on rounds of 93 and 86 in rounds one and two, respectively.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on April 8-9 at the NC4K Classic, which is also hosted by Ohio Dominican University, in Blacklick, Ohio.
