Ferris State Lowers Score By 14 Strokes On Final Day At NC4K College Classic

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team bettered its score from day one to day two by 14 strokes while finishing 11th overall at the annual NC4K College Classic, which wrapped up on Tuesday (April 10) at the Jefferson Country Club in Blacklick, Ohio.

After shooting a first-round 340 team total on Monday, FSU came back in the final 18 holes of action on Tuesday to notch a 326 figure while finishing at 666 overall for the 36 holes. A total of 16 teams competed in the field.

The event helped raise over $1,800 for Nellie's Champions for Kids (NC4K), an organization that supports children with pediatric cancer. The sixth annual event was hosted by Ohio Dominican University and included teams from across the region and nearby institutions.

The Bulldogs were led by freshman Baylee Thompons, who finished tied for 26th individually at 160 for the tournament. She posted a 81 in round one followed by a 79 in the final round.

FSU's Margo Brown tied for 34th in the field at 165 overall. After posting a 86 on Monday, she fired a team-high tying 79 score in Tuesday's final round of competition.

The Bulldogs' Mari Suokko placed tied for 48th in the draw at 170 on rounds of 88 and 82 over the two days, respectively. She was followed by Katelin Randolph, who shared 56th place at 172 with identical rounds of 86 each day.

Finally, Izzy Flack carded a 173 score for a share of 59th place. She posted an 87 in round one and then lowered her score to an 86 in the final round.

FSU's Shayna Schenider competed as an individual and finished tied for 82nd overall at 187 for the tournament with a first-round 97 and a second-round 90 figure.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday and Sunday, April 14-15, at the Ashland Invitational in Ashland, Ohio.
