Bulldog Women's Golf Opens Fall Season At Indianapolis Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf squad officially opened its 2018-19 campaign with a 15th-place finish at the University of Indianapolis Invitational held on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 10-11) in Carmel, Ind.

FSU tallied a team score of 1,023 in the three-round event with scores of 348, 342 and 333 overall. The Bulldogs bettered their score in each of the three rounds of action.

Freshman Mackenzie Dale led the Bulldogs with a 250 total, which was good for a share of 73rd place overall in the large field. She shot an 88 followed by an 83 in round two before closing the tournament with a 79.

The Bulldogs' Margo Brown, a junior, finished 76th overall with a 253 figure on rounds of 80, 90 and 83 in the 54-hole event.

Meanwhile, freshman Elaina DeRose came in tied for 82nd overall along with senior teammate Gianna Dela Cruz. Both carded 262 scores for the event. DeRose shot identical rounds of 89 in the first 36 holes followed by a final-round 84. Dela Cruz posted a 91 in round two before coming back with an 83 in the middle round and an 88 in the final 18 holes.

Finally, FSU's Mari Suokko shot a 266 and finished 84th on rounds of 92 followed by back-to-back 87's.

The Bulldogs will be back in action this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 15-16, at the Saginaw Valley State Invitational in Bay City, Mich.
