Women's Golf Takes Sixth Place At Saginaw Valley State Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team wrapped up weekend action with a sixth-place finish in the Saginaw Valley State Invitational held on Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 15-16) at the Bay City Country Club.

The Bulldogs shot a two-round 639 figure in the 36-hole event. After posting a 324 score in round one, FSU came back with a 315 total in the second round.

Freshman Elaina DeRose placed tied for 14th overall with a 158 score on back-to-back rounds of 79.

FSU's Mackenzie Dale came in 16th at 159 as she shot a first-round 82 followed by a final round 77 score.

The Bulldogs' Margo Brown placed tied for 18th individually as she carded an 81 in round one and fired an 80 in round two for a 161 mark.

Ferris State's Mari Suokko and Gianna Dela Cruz both came in tied for 35th overall at 166 for the weekend. Suokko shot a 87 and a 79 while Dela Cruz notched an 82 in round one and an 84 in the second round.

The Bulldogs also had two competitors take part as individuals with Shayna Schneider placing tied for 31st and Emma Polski coming in 46th. Schneider totaled a 164 score on rounds of 82 each day while Polski shot an 89 in the opening round and closed with an 84 for a 173 total.

Ferris State will return to action on Sept. 22-23 at the Ohio Dominican Invitational in Pataskala, Ohio.
