Women's Golf Places Sixth In Large Field At Cumberland Trail Golf Classic

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team came away with a sixth-place finish over the weekend at the Cumberland Trail Golf Classic hosted by Ohio Dominican in Pataskala, Ohio.

In a large field of 15 schools, the Bulldogs placed in the upper half by shooting a 641 total over the 36 holes of action. After a first-round 324 score on Saturday, the Bulldogs fired a 317 figure in Sunday's final round.

Ferris State was led by freshman Mackenzie Dale, who placed 16th overall with a 155 mark. She shot a 76 in round one followed by a 79 over the final 18 holes.

Meanwhile, Mari Suokko came in tied for 28th along with Gianna Dela Cruz for the Bulldogs with both shooting a 161 score. Suokko totaled an 81 in round one and an 80 in the second round while Dela Cruz shot 84-77 over the two rounds.

FSU's Elaina DeRose tied for 33rd overall at 164 with rounds of 83 Saturday and 81 Sunday. Finally, the Bulldogs' Margo Brown carded a 168 figure with a first-round 85 and a final round score of 83 to come in tied for 46th in the field.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 29-30, at the Grand Valley State Invitational in Allendale.
