Ferris State Women's Golf Opens Play Sixth After Round One At NC4K College Classic

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team opened the annual NC4K College Classic with a first-round 313 team figure and sits sixth overall among 19 competing schools after round one action on Monday (April 8) at the JEfferson Country Club in Blacklick, Ohio.

The Bulldogs are only 12 shots behind leader Findlay, which netted a 301 team figure. A total of only 12 strokes seperate the top six teams with the Bulldogs owning a nine-shot advantage over the seventh-place team in Tiffin (322).

For Ferris State, Mari Suokko led the way as she's currently tied for 15th place overall along with freshman teammate Mackenzie Dale. Both shot a 77 in the first round.

FSU's Elaina Derose is tied for 20th in the field with a 78 in Monday's round while Margo Brown shot an 81 and is tied for 36th overall following the first 18 holes of action.

Finally, the Bulldogs' Shayna Schneider came in tied for 78th after round one with an 89 score.

The event, which is being hosted by Ohio Dominican University, wraps up with final round play starting at 9:30 a.m. (ET) on Tuesday.
