Women's Golf Takes Fourth Place At Music City Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team closed out action Tuesday (Oct. 15) in the 2019 Music City Invitational hosted by Trevecca Nazarene University near Nashville, Tenn.

The Bulldogs shot a two-round, 609 stroke figure to place fourth overall among 13 competing teams in the regional event. The event took place at the Old Fort Golf Club in Murfreesboro.

FSU opened the event with a 300 team score on Monday and was second heading into the final day when the Bulldogs carded a 309 total overall and finished +33 for the tournament.

Senior Destiny Lawson paced the Bulldogs as she placed tied for sixth in the field at 147 for the two rounds. She shot a one-under 71 in round one and a 76 in the final round to finish +3 for the event.

Behind Lawson was freshman Karina Vanduinen, who came in tied for 16th at 152 on identical rounds of 76 each day to finish +8 overall.

FSU's Makenzie Dale and Shayna Schneider both placed tied for 30th as each carded a 156 stroke total to notch a +12 figure. Dale shot a 75 over the first 18 holes and an 81 in the final round while Schneider posted back-to-back scores of 78 in the two rounds.

Finally, Elaina Derose wound up tied for 40th at 158 with scores of 79 each round to finish +14 overall.

The Bulldogs will close out the fall season on Oct. 21-22 at the Chippewa Invitational in Detroit.
