Ferris State Matches First Day Score In Final Round At The Cav Classic

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team matched its previous score as the final round of The Cav Classic took place on Tuesday (April 12) in Canton, Ohio.

FSU shot a 327 team score for the second consecutive day and placed tied for 10th overall with a two-round 654 total in the event held at the Glenmoor Country Club. The tourney was hosted by Walsh University on the par 72 course measuring 5,965 yards.

The 15-team event was won by the University of Findlay with a 606 team total followed by Tiffin in second place at 614 overall.

Ferris State was led by Alayna Eldred, who carded a 152 total for the 36 holes of action en route to a ninth-place overall performance. She shot a first-round 75 followed by a five-over 77 in round two on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs' Hope Thebo placed tied for 36th in the field, shooting an 81 on Tuesday after her first-round 83 score for a 164 figure.

Meanwhile, Abby Grevel came in 47th overall at 168 for the tournament as she notched back-to-back rounds of 84 in the event.

FSU's Dani Staskowski wound up tied for 53th at 171 overall. She followed up her first round 85 score with an 86 total on Tuesday.

Finally, Ferris State's Lauren Kempf shot an 85 in Tuesday's action after posting an 88 in the first round and finished tied for 58th at 173 overall.

The Bulldogs' Juanita De La Cruz also competed as an individual and wound up tied for 72nd in the field with a 177 total, shooting a 90 on Tuesday on the heels of her first-round 87 score.

Ferris State will next compete in the 2022 GLIAC Championships set for April 22-24 in Augusta, Mich.
