Bulldog Golf Teams Wrap Up Action At SVSU Spring Invite In Kentucky

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's golf teams both concluded action on Sunday (March 19) at the Saginaw Valley State Spring Invitational.

Both events were held in Kentucky with the women at the Cherry Blossom Golf Course in Georgetown and the men at the Kearney Hill Golf Links in Lexington.

The FSU women's team finished with a 645 team score for the 36 holes of action, coming in sixth overall on rounds of 323 Saturday and 322 on Sunday. Meanwhile, the men's team shot a 616 team figure over the two days, placing 18th in a large field with a round of 316 on day one followed by a 300 score in the final round.

The Bulldog women's team was led by Alayna Eldred, who shared 12th place overall. After shooting a 79 in the first round, she came back with a 77 to finish at 156 for the two days of action. Both Dani Staskowski and Kamryn Shannon tied for 32nd overall with 162 scores. Staskowski carded a 79 in the opening round and a 83 in round two while Shannon notched back-to-back 81 scores.

FSU's Abby Grevel finished tied for 44th with a 166 total, shooting an 81 in the final round after an opening-round 85 score. Finally, Susie Gietl placed tied for 49th with a 167 figure, firing an 83 in round two following her opening round 84 score.

The Bulldogs' Lizzie Anderson competed as an individual and finished tied for 18th at 158 for the tournament. She shot a 78 on Sunday after notching an 80 in the first round.

The men's team was paced by Caleb Bond as he shared 16th place overall on the leaderboard at 147 for the 36 holes. He shot an even-par 72 in Sunday's final round after posting a 75 in round one. Teammate Zach Koerner came in next at 151 for the two rounds, finishing tied for 36th with an 80 in round one followed by a one-under par 71 in round two.

FSU's Daniel Shattuck finished with a 157 total for a share of 87th place, posting scores of 78 on Saturday and 79 on Sunday. Next in line was Adam Arif Madzri, who shared 102nd place with a 161 figure, recording scores of 83 and 78 over the two days, respectively.

Meanwhile, Shayne Beaufait placed 118th overall on rounds of 88 and 79 for a 167 stroke total.

Ferris State had two men's individual competitors in Trent Barth and Blake Connelly. The Bulldogs' Barth came in tied for 54th at 153, shooting a 77 on Saturday and a 76 on Sunday. Connelly notched a final-round 75 score after his first round total of 85 to place tied for 98th at 160 for the tournament.

The Bulldog women's team will compete on Monday and Tuesday, March 20-21, at the Findlay Spring Invitational while the men's squad returns to action on Friday. (March 24) with a tri-match event featuring Davenport and Grand Valley State in West Michigan.
