Ferris State Women's Golf Wins Bill Crabtree Invite To Close Out Fall Schedule

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team closed out the fall portion of the schedule in impressive fashion, winning the Bill Crabtree Invitational as play wrapped up on Monday (Oct. 23) in Owensboro, Ky.

The Bulldogs carded a two-round 612 team score to win the event by six strokes over runner-up Maryville at The Pearl Club. FSU shot a 303 to grab the day one lead on Sunday before closing with a 309 to secure the win.

A total of 15 teams took part in the event held on the par 72 course measuring 5,829 yards. Ferris State finished +36 overall for the 36 holes of action.

Individually, FSU's Kamryn Shannon earned runner-up honors with an even-par 144 score for the two rounds, shooting a 73 on Monday after her opening round of 71 on Sunday. She was only four shots behind the individual medalist in the tournament.

FSU's Aspen Sugars also placed in the top 10 overall by coming in tied for ninth in the field with a 154 score, which came on identical rounds of 77 each day.

The Bulldogs' Hallie Crozier finished tied for 14th with a 155 total, notching a 76 in round one before finishing with a 79 over the final 18 holes.

Meanwhile, Dani Staskowski wound up tied for 30th overall at 160 for the tourney. She shot back-to-back rounds of 80 each day.

Ferris State's Lizzie Anderson came in tied for 34th overall with a 161 score, recording scores of 79 on Sunday and 82 on Monday.

Finally, Abby Grevel tied for 41st overall for FSU, shooting back-to-back rounds of 82 each day for a 164 total.

The Bulldogs closed the fall season with a trio of top three finishes in tourney action this fall, including the team championship at the Bill Crabtree Invitational. FSU was also the runner-up at the Gilda's Club Laker Invite in Allendale and finished third at its own Lady Bulldog Invite in September. Ferris State resumes the spring portion of the 2023-24 schedule in March.
