Ferris State University was represented on the 2010 All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Soccer Team as junior defender Meklyla Spraggins (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Central) achieved second-team accolades in an announcement made this Friday (Nov. 5) afternoon by the conference office.

Spraggins was the lone Ferris State representative selected to either the 11-member first or second team in balloting conducted by the league's head coaches.

Spraggins recorded one point with an assist as a starter in all 19 Bulldog matches this campaign.  Her lone point occurred on a helper in FSU's 5-0 conference home decision over Lake Erie on Sept. 26 at the FSU Soccer Field in Big Rapids, Mich.  The 5-2 defender played a team-leading 1,652 minutes this campaign, which included a season match-high 120 minutes versus Northern Michigan (Oct. 17) in a 1-1 two-overtime conference tie at FSU's Top Taggart Field.

For her three-year (2008-10) career, Spraggins has compiled six points (all assists) in 56 matches.  She currently ranks second among Ferris State's all-time leaders with 4,709 career minutes played.

Northwood's Amanda Watson was chosen as the Offensive Player of the Year while Defensive Player of the Year went to Grand Valley State's Jenna Wenglinski.  Tayler Ward of Grand Valley State earned Freshman of the Year accolades and Tiffin head coach Paula Fantini was recognized as the GLIAC Coach of the Year.

Ferris State concluded its 2010 season with a 7-9-3 overall record and placed fourth in the GLIAC North Division standings as a result of posting a 7-6-2 mark under first-year head coach Matt Kellogg.  The Bulldogs also made the program's third-ever GLIAC Tournament appearance this season.
