Women's Soccer Battles To Double OT Tie

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer team battled Ohio Dominican to a 1-1 double overtime tie on Friday afternoon (Sept. 30) in Columbus, Ohio.

The two teams played under cloudy and windy conditions with a few sprinkles.

The host Panthers struck first only 5:51 into the contest on Jennifer Holton's third goal of the season off an assist from Tonya Frasik.

However, the Bulldogs answered at 21:15 of the first half on freshman midfielder Stephanie Garland's (Macomb/L'Anse Creuse North) hird goal of the year in unassisted fashion on a breakaway shot.

Neither team scored in the final half or over the two overtime periods.

Ferris State sophomore goalkeeper Rachel McCollum (Grand Blanc) played the entire 110 minutes in net and made two saves.  Meanwhile, Laura Clark also stopped two Bulldog scoring chances in going the distance for ODU in net.

Both teams totaled only three shots on goal apiece, but Ohio Dominican did hold a 11-7 edge in overall in total shots.  Garland paced Ferris with four shots, including two on goal in the game.

The Bulldogs totaled 15 fouls to 12 for the Panthers and both teams recorded three corner kick chances.

Ferris State's record currently stands at 4-5-2 overall and 4-2-2 in the GLIAC.  ODU is now 2-5-2 overall and 2-3-2 in conference action.

The Bulldogs next will travel to face Saginaw Valley State on Friday, Oct. 7, with match time set for 2 p.m. (ET) in University Center, Mich.
