Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer program and second-year head coach Andy McCaslin will hold a Bulldog ID Camp on Aug. 9 in Big Rapids.

The 2014 Ferris State Bulldog ID Camp is a high-level camp where participants will receive coaching from the Ferris State coaching staff, other top level coaches representing colleges across the region and current members of the FSU Women's Soccer program.

The participant will get to experience a college coaching environment, a college recruiting talk, as well as competitive training games against some other college prospects with both small-sided games along with 11 vs 11 action.

"I'm excited about the response of this ID day for us," said McCaslin. "We had great numbers last year for it and this will be another tremendous opportunity to work with a group Of players who are interested in learning more about Bulldog soccer and being seen to help keep moving us in the right direction."

The camp starts at 10 a.m. (ET) and no overnight stay is required.

"We like to keep the size small because we can really get to know the players that are with us and give them the best experience possible," McCaslin said. "We've identified most of our current roster from our camps program so it has proven to be a tremendous recruiting tool for us."

The Bulldogs, who reached the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Semifinals for the second consecutive season in McCaslin's first season as head coach last fall, will open their 2014 campaign by taking part in the Ramada Plaza Invitational hosted by Grand Valley State on Sept. 5 & 7 in Allendale. The home opener is set for Sunday, Sept. 14, versus Saginaw Valley State at the FSU Soccer Field.

Ferris State wrapped up the 2013 season with a 9-8-2 overall record under McCaslin as the Bulldogs posted back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in school history and reached the league tournament semifinals for only the third time in the program's 15 years. Last year marked Ferris State's fourth consecutive conference tournament appearance, which is also the longest stretch in school history.  FSU's trip to the semifinals also represented the first time in school history in which the Bulldogs have advanced to the second round of the conference tournament in back-to-back years.

FSU closed the 2013 campaign with a 7-1 overall record at home last season and the lone loss was a 1-0 non-conference setback to rival and eventual national champion Grand Valley State.  Overall, FSU outscored the opponents by a 23-4 count in Big Rapids with five shutouts.

Last fall also represented only the sixth time in the program's 15-year history in which the Bulldogs have won at least nine contests in a season.
