Ferris State Women's Soccer Notches Double-OT Tie On Road At Walsh

Big Rapids, Mich. - An early second-half goal enabled the Ferris State University women's soccer team to pull out a 1-1 double-overtime tie with Walsh on Friday (Sept. 26) evening in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play at Canton, Ohio.

The Bulldogs' Casey Shauman tallied her second goal of the year in unassisted fashion in the 54th minute of the contest as FSU took a 1-0 lead early in the second frame.

However, Walsh battled back and knotted the score when Kristen Conti picked up her fourth goal of the campaign off a Madison Strausbaugh feed in a one-vs-one situation at 62:24 of the contest.

From there, neither team was able to score again in overtime or during a pair of 10-minute overtime periods.

Overall, Walsh outshot the Bulldogs 17-12 for the contest although FSU held a 3-2 edge for the two overtime periods. Senior Riley Wood paced Ferris State with three shots in the outing.

The Bulldogs also had four corner kick chances to one for the hosts, but FSU finished with six fouls to four for the Cavaliers.

Maddie Haustein played nearly 97 minutes in net for the Bulldogs and compiled five saves with Savanna Wojtanowski posting a pair of saves in slightly more than 13 minutes of action.

On the Walsh side, Dani Shambaugh finished with five saves in 110 minutes of play while remaining unbeaten (3-0-1) for the hosts in net this campaign.

Following the tie, the Bulldogs now own a 1-3-2 overall mark to date this campaign and FSU is 0-1-1 in league play. However, all three Ferris State setbacks this season have come against teams that reached the NCAA Tournament a year ago. FSU is 1-1-2 in its last four outings to date this season.

Ferris State wraps up its swing to Ohio with a 12 p.m. (ET) contest on Sunday (Sept. 28) against the Tiffin Dragons in Tiffin, Ohio.
