Bulldogs Clamp Down On Oilers For 1-0 Victory At Home

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State Women's Soccer posted its second consecutive shutout by defeating the Findlay Oilers 1-0 on Friday (Oct. 14) afternoon at FSU's Top Taggart Field.

Junior forward Rachel Fouts netted her fourth goal of the season in the victory and the Bulldog defense clamped down defensively, allowing only eight shots on goal over 90 minutes of play.

Freshmen goalkeeper Grace Kraft posted her sixth shutout of the season and made all eight saves in the FSU triumph.

In the 14th minute, Fouts came down the left side of the field and fired a shot cross-cage that soared over the Oiler goaltender's head. The goal proved to be the game winner for Ferris State with freshman forward Brandi Wagner earning her first assist of the season.

In net, Kraft earned her second consecutive shutout and fourth in the last six contests.

Kraft's sixth shutout of the season presently ranks as the second-most shutouts in a single season by a Bulldog goalkeeper. Graduated goalkeeper Maddie Haustein's eight shutouts in the 2015 season set a new program record that Kraft is threatening in her first season on campus.

In the last five outings, Ferris State has only allowed two goals with both coming in a 2-1 loss at Lake Erie on Oct. 7.

The Bulldogs finished with 16 total shots, registering 10 shots on goal. Fouts fired the most shots for Ferris State with five, three of which went on goal.

Findlay's Marissa Swindell finished with four of the Oilers' eight total shots on goal, as each of her four total shots went on goal.

With the win, Ferris State improved to 2-2-3 in GLIAC play and 4-6-3 overall. The Bulldogs pulled into sixth place, two points ahead of Saginaw Valley State and Walsh. FSU also has a game in hand on both Walsh and Saginaw Valley State, who are both scheduled to play later this afternoon.

Ferris State will next host Ohio Dominican on Sunday (Oct. 16) at 1 p.m. (ET) at Top Taggart Field.
