Ferris State Women's Soccer Beats Cedarville Behind Dubbert's Two Goals

Big Rapids, Mich. - A pair of goals from junior Carley Dubbert, including the game-winner in the second half, lifted the Ferris State University women's soccer team to a 2-1 triumph over visiting Cedarville (Ohio) on Sunday (Sept. 10) afternoon in Big Rapids.

Dubbert tallied the final two goals of the afternoon and scored the final goal in the 75th minute to give FSU its first-ever regular season victory at South Athletic Fields' turf surface.

Cedarville struck early at 8:13 of the opening half and took the initial lead on Grace Miorelli's deep shot off an assist from Taylor Noll.

However, the Bulldogs answered at 18:46 of the first frame when Dubbert scored her first of two markers on the afternoon via an unassisted shot. It came on a second chance opportunity in the box around a defender.

The score remained knotted unitl 75:14 of the second half when Dubbert tallied the game-winner on a shot outside of the box from a Brandi Wagner pass.

From there, the Bulldogs staved off any hopes of a Cedarville comeback to earn the win and even their mark at 2-2 on the year.

Ferris State held a decided edge in total shots as the Bulldogs outshot the Yellow Jackets 33-10 for the contest, including 19-3 in the first half. FSU also had 13 shots on goal to only five for Cedarville.

Bulldog sophomore goaltender Grace Kraft finished with four saves in 90 minutes of work while Cedarville's Allison Garlock stopped 11 shots and allowed both of Dubbert's goals in going the distance.

Along the decided advantage in total shots, the Bulldogs also earned seven of the game's nine corner kick opportunities. The Yellow Jackets finished with six fouls compared to five on the FSU side.

Dubbert finished with a game-high six total shots for Ferris State, including three on goal, while Rachel Fouts managed five shots and put two on net. FSU's Tia VanSuilichem netted three shots on goal in the win.

Ferris State hits the road for a non-league tilt at Concordia on Tuesday (Sept. 12) starting at 3 p.m. (ET) before returning home to host Tiffin in non-league play on Friday (Sept. 15) beginning at 4 p.m. (ET) in Big Rapids.
